ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
The community in Sydney began on 7th February, 2009 with three families coming together to praise and worship and be enriched by the teachings of the word of God, guided and supported by our sister community from Melbourne. The thirst to be enriched further and share what was received by the few of us was so strong and with leading of the Holy Spirit and support from our parent community in Colombo and sister community in Melbourne, we began to grow. After our first Four Steps Retreat in January 2010, we moved from meeting in a house to a small church hall to where we are now. During this time, we have been growing together being one in the Spirit, and the Lord has taught us how to grow closer to Him, how to encounter Him in all our life situations, and most importantly how to live our life as intended by our Creator and Father and how to depend on His providence at all times.
Our meeting which started with a few families has now grown to a gathering of about 100 people of not just Sri Lankans, but other nationalities too. Our community has been blessed with many gifts of the Holy Spirit and most importantly the unity, joy and peace that is true and real which is the most valuable gift all of us enjoy everyday.
DETAILS OF PRAYER MEETING
Weekly Praise & Worship: Our weekly praise and worship with the live message by Bro. Lalith Perera via Skype is held every Friday commencing at 7.30 pm. We meet at the parish hall of Our Lady of the Rosary church, No: 8, Diana Avenue, Kellyville, NSW, 2155.
In addition to the weekly praise and worship we also have other ministry meetings that happen once a month.
Family Ministry: The family ministry meet on the first Thursday of every month at the residence of one of the servers. We begin our meeting at 7.30 pm. This ministry is for couples who are married, whether widowed, separated or divorced and also for couples engaged to be married. The teachings of the Lord are shared with us in order for our marriage to blossom and grow and empower us to live our marriage vows in the way that Abba Father intended it for us and how to overcome the obstacles and challenges we face on a daily basis and grow together as one with the Lord as the head and the driver of our unity.

Children’s Ministry: The children (5-14 years of age) meet every first Saturday from 4.30 to 5.30pm at St John 23rd Church, 160 Perfection Avenue, Stanhope Gardens, NSW, 2768. This ministry brings children together to teach them and encourage them to get to know their heavenly Father in a more intimate manner. Through fun activities and role-playing we bring alive, the stories of the Bible and use singing and dancing to encourage our little ones to shout out in praise and thanksgiving to Abba Father. Most importantly they get to learn at a very young age what a merciful Father we have and that we can run to Him with everything in our life not just our burdens.

Youth Ministry: The youth ministry began with a few of youth getting together to praise, worship and share our challenges, obstacles and triumphs, using the Scriptures to realise God’s plan for us and His will for us. We meet every 2nd Saturday immediately after the Vigil Mass at 6.00 pm at St John 23rd Church, 160 Perfection Avenue, Stanhope Gardens, NSW, 2768.

Young Adults Ministry: Our young adults ministry was formed after our Annual retreat in January this year, when some of our youth grew out of the teenage life, beginning to experience the world of adulthood. This ministry helps the young adults to take on the challenges of adult world, with the Word of God as their guide or manual as against the experiences of their parents, siblings or friends and even what they see on TV and movies and read in novels. They learn to discern the will of God in every decision making in their lives, be it a day to day matter or an important event such as employment or marriage. We meet every fourth Saturday immediately after the Vigil Mass at 6.00 pm at St John 23rd Church, 160 Perfection Avenue, Stanhope Gardens, NSW, 2768.

Men’s Ministry: This ministry began a few months ago, as a result of a leading of the Holy Spirit received by intercessory prayer group. Open to all men, married or single, it gives an excellent opportunity for them to learn to live the life that God has planned for them as men, to discuss the challenges they face in their day to day life, be it at home as the head of the family, or in their workplace. The men’s ministry meet every fourth Monday at the residence of one of our servers. The meeting starts at 8.00 pm.
